LEICESTER’S National Development League team make the long trip back to Armadale on Friday (7.30pm) at the start of a busy weekend.
The Roger Webster Lion Cubs are also in home action on Saturday when they face Kent in the second half of a double-header which also sees the teams meet a senior level in a crucial Championship contest.
On their last visit to Armadale in July, the Cubs’ meeting was curtailed after just two completed races due to heavy rain.
Since then, both sides have lost a heat-leader to retirement with Nathan Greaves having stood down for the Devils – although the hosts have recruited the highly experienced William Lawon, recently dropped from their Championship side, to guest at No.1.
The Cubs again operate rider-replacement for former skipper Joe Lawlor, but in Saturday’s fixture against Kent they will bring in popular 2019 title-winner Ryan Terry-Daley who is eligible to appear as an unattached rider.
The Devils are unbeaten at home, but the Cubs won 50-40 when the sides met at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena in the early stages of the season.
Manager Dave Howard said: “We always look to come away from our away matches with something, and there’s a great fighting spirit in the team.
“It’s been difficult, we were the hardest hit by Eastbourne pulling out of the league, because we were the only team who had got seven points against them.
“We lost the most of any team in the National League with that, but now we’re looking forward to this weekend.”
